"Go"

Charles turned Isaac's carseat around so that he is now facing forward. Isaac loves it! He started saying "Go" and "Beep" and making car sounds. He is so cute. He actually gets excited when you tell him we're going bye-bye.

I was worried that he wouldn't be able to sleep comfortably now that the seat sits more upright, but he didn't seem to have any trouble passing out on our car ride to the store Thursday afternoon.

We went to the Hirth's house for their annual Christmas Party Friday night. Isaac enjoyed playing with Jason's dogs (and their toys). He didn't act a bit fearful of the dogs! I was surprised because if you've seen Jason's dogs, or if they've ever greeted you in the driveway, you know that his dogs can be a bit intimidating. It was kinda funny because the dogs actually acted like they were afraid of Isaac. We had a good time at the party and Isaac was worn out. When we pulled out of the driveway to go home, Charles turned on the light in the car and turned around and said "Go" to Isaac before he realized that Isaac was already sleeping (or trying to sleep at this point). Isaac responded with a funny look and a squint. It was funny. He went right back to sleep once we turned the light off :)

Christmas

We went to my Unlce's house for Christmas Eve. Isaac played with Troy climbing the stairs and watching the fish. He had a good time. I told Charles that a fish would be a good pet for Isaac because they pretty much don't do anything... but Charles has bad memories of cleaning fish tanks :( Then Isaac woke up at 7:30AM Christmas morning and we opened his gifts from under the tree. He played with his new toys until about 11AM before he went down for his nap. We then drove out to Beechmont to see Charles' Grandma Beatty. She turned 92 the Saturday before Christmas and was placed in a nursing home the week before. She doesn't talk much anymore, but she smiled when she saw Isaac - and she smiled when he left! Charles read the Christmas story to Grandma from her Bible. She seemed to enjoy it.

Then we rushed over to Charles' sister Cindi's house for dinner and a game of White Elephant (which they neglected to tell us about, so we had to "borrow" gifts from Cindi and then pay her back). It was fun. I was the first person to steal a gift and then the game got started! When it was over, I trading the Coach purse I ended up with for a UC sweatshirt (you're welcome Hope) and Charles ended up with more Starbucks gift cards. It was a lot of fun, and Isaac was good the entire night! Isaac received gifts from everyone and enjoyed playing with them during our gift exchange. It will be fun next year when he is old enough to get into gift opening more. It seemed like as soon as he figured out how to unwrap a gift, there weren't anymore for him to open. Charles said that Isaac wasn't going to receive anymore gifts until he turns 5 because he has so many already -- We'll see about that ;)

Family Christmas

We celebrated Christmas with my parents and Angela, Billy & Liam on Friday night. The boys received some cool new toys. Isaac is getting the hang of tearing into presents, but for some reason, he likes to rip the paper off Liam's presents more than his own.

He decided to only do gifts for the kids this year which made shopping for presents easier and more fun ;) Billy decided to surprise us with gifts, however, as a token of his appreciation for us being there for Angela when he has not been able to. He gave Charles Halo 3, and he gave me a day at the spa!!

Every Christmas, we take a family photo in front of the Christmas tree. Here is the family photo from last year and this year. The family is growing!!

Colds

The boys are both under the weather. Charles stayed home from work yesterday because his cold was making him feel so miserable. Isaac and I tried to stay away from him and to let him sleep, but unfortunately, Isaac has started coughing. He has also taken two very long naps today, so hopefully, his little body is fighting off the sickness. On top of Isaac possibly getting a cold, he is also trying to cut 3 teeth. So he's been a little crankier than usual. Prayerfully, they'll both be feeling better for Christmas!!

Buckethead

Isaac has played with this ice bucket for weeks. Monday, he figured out that it fits on his head. He was so funny. Everytime he put it on, he crawled really fast to our chrome garbage can to see his reflection. This bucket has provided hours of entertainment!

Billy's home

Billy came home today! We didn't expect his flight to arrive until 2PM, but he surprised us when he hopped on an earlier flight. So, Angela brought Liam to our house at 9:30AM because Billy's flight was scheduled to arrive in Cincinnati at 10:10!!

Isaac and Liam played all day and (thankfully) napped at the same time. Liam ate a whole jar of #2 sweet potatoes while Isaac spilled his Cheerios all over the floor again. Then Isaac pushed Liam around the kitchen in his old walker (or I should say "tried" to push Liam around... they didn't go far ;) Isaac doesn't pay too much attention to Liam unless Liam is playing with one of Isaac's toys. Liam, on the other hand, watches everything Isaac does.


After a few hours, Angela and Billy arrived to get Liam. Billy couldn't get over how big Liam is, and how handsome he is. Liam stared at Billy for a long time. It was funny because Liam had a look on his face like "I've seen this guy before".... Billy and Liam look A LOT alike.


Then we met Charles at Billy and Angela's house for pizza (Billy had a Larosa's craving). We left at about 8PM because Isaac and Billy were getting tired ;) It was a good day. We are so thankful for God's many blessings and for the prayers of our family and friends for Billy.

Learning curve..?

I'm trying to teach Isaac that the contents of bowls and plates are not meant to be dumped out. We practiced today with Cheerios, and well, we need more practice.

Grandma came over tonight and played with Isaac while I finished up Christmas shopping and Charles was at TV. Before I left, he was showing her all the ornaments on the Christmas tree. I got home just in time to put Isaac to bed. Then Grandma told me that he had pushed his firetruck over to the baby gate that leads to the basement. Before she knew it, he was standing on the seat of his truck trying to open the gate!! This is a new trick that he apparently reserved for company in the absence of Mommy... we'll see if it happens again.

Today, is the birthday of Isaac's great-grandmother. She is 83. We went to Cracker Barrel last night to celebrate with her. Once again, someone from another table asked if Isaac and Liam were twins... I really don't understand how people could think this. Anyhow, we had a nice dinner and even bought ornaments for next year's MSBC Ladies Ornament Exchange.

Our day has been pretty uneventful. I got Isaac all dressed up to go to the store, then I realized how tired he was. So instead he took a nap. I'll have to finish my Christmas shopping later.
